POLITICAL CAREER
Senator Johnson served two terms in the Michigan House. During his last term, Johnson served as chair of the House Regulatory Reform Committee. Johnson is a former legislative staffer to Rep. Bill McConico and chaired the House Detroit Caucus. He was one of the sponsors of the Michigan Film Production Tax Credit program. Johnson beat out former State Representative Ken Daniels in the August 2010 Democratic primary in the 2nd Senate District.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Prior to being elected to the Senate, Bert served two terms as a State Representative, replacing his term-limited former boss, Bill McConico, whom he served as Chief of Staff for five years.
