Sen. Moolenaar is a former three term member of the Michigan House where he chaired the House Appropriations Subcommittee on K-12. Moolenaar also served on the Midland City Council and was director of the Middle Michigan Development Corporation.


Moolenaar worked at Dow Chemical developing new product markets. Later, as the director of the Small Business Center at Middle Michigan Development Corporation, he worked to improve the local business climate and to attract jobs to the region.


John graduated from Herbert Henry Dow High School and Hope College, later receiving a Master's in Public Administration from Harvard University.


Born May 8, 1961. John and his wife, Amy, have six children and currently reside in Midland.
