Brunner, Charles (D)State Representative District 96
Representative Brunner was a Bay City Commissioner from 2001 to 2007, serving as president for part of that time. He became mayor of Bay City in 2007 and served until being elected to the House.
Rep. Brunner worked 30 years as a school teacher in Midland. He said he always shied away from applying for management positions because he "didn't like the politics." Read his MIRS biography here.
Rep. Brunner holds an associate’s degree in business administration from Delta College and three degrees from Central Michigan University: a bachelor’s in business/marketing education, a master’s in business education and a master’s in secondary school administration.
Representative Brunner and his wife, Judy, are lifelong Bay County resident.
Rep. Brunner started the annual citywide Clean-up Program, Adopt-a-Park Program and Mayor’s Housing Initiative. He is a member of the Bay County Historical Society, board member of Friends of Bay City State Park and a founding member of Bay Future.
