Brinks, Winnie (D)State Representative District 76
A first-time candidate, Brinks became the Democratic nominee for the 76th District seat after former Rep. Roy Schmidt switched parties to become a Republican in 2012. Brinks went on to easily defeat Schmidt in the general election.
Brinks previously worked as the executive director of The One Way House, a nonprofit corrections agency. More recently, Brinks worked as a case worker at The Source in Grand Rapids.
She is a graduate of Calvin College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a concentration in sociology.
Her husband's name is Steve. They have three children.
