Crawford, Kathy (R)State Representative District 38
Rep. Crawford was first elected to the Michigan House in 2014, defeating Dan Lauffer 59 to 41 percent in the primary and Democrat Jasper Catanzaro in the general election 63 to 37. Prior to that, Rep. Crawford was elected to the Novi City Council in 2007. In 2010, she was elected to the Oakland County Commission representing the 9th District of Northville and Novi where she served until 2014.
Rep. Crawford worked as a professional in the field of aging for more than 30 years in Oakland County. She was one of the founders of the Michigan Association of Senior Centers, assisted the State of Michigan in writing the rules to certify professionals in the field of aging and was Michigan’s second senior center director to become certified. She retired from the City of Novi in 2004 to launch her own business, Kathy Crawford Communications.

Representative Crawford and her husband, former strate Representative Hugh CRAWFORD, have been married for 50 years. They have three grown children, Doug, Amy and Kelly; and four grandchildren. She has lived in the 38th District her whole life. Kathy and Hugh were baptized and married at the Novi Methodist Church.
She was appointed by former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox to conduct workshops for citizens regarding Identity Theft. Rep. Crawford also has served on the Novi Pavilion Shores Conservancy, Novi Library Fundraising Committee, is a Novi Library Friends volunteer and Novi Senior Theater cast member and MC for the annual Senior Variety Show. She is past chair and member of the Novi Retirees Association, and is a member of the American Business Women’s Association. She is currently the chair of Novi’s Historical Commission.
