Rep. Liberati was born and raised in Allen Park where he still lives.

Liberati finished second in the Democratic primary out of a field of five other candidates in 2010 including former Rep. Paul CLEMENTE (D-Lincoln Park). That is when Lincoln Park was in this district and when Clemente -- another strong name Downriver -- had more time to knock on doors, Liberati said.

Liberati and his wife, Nina LIBERATI, have been married 25 years. They have three sons and are members of the St. Frances Cabrini church.

Rep. Liberati has served on the Allen Park School Board as president since 2006. He said he has more than 16 years of experience working with non-profit organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Fragile X Association of Michigan. Fragile X is a genetic disorder, which causes varying degrees of mental impairment. His youngest son, Antonio Liberati, was diagnosed with the condition at 18 months old.
