Sen. Peter MacGregor was first elected to the Michigan Senate in 2014 after defeating Democrat Deb Havens 66 to 34 percent in the general election.
He won a second term in 2018 when he secured 58.3 percent of the vote against Democrat Gidget GROENDYK.
Prior to his election to the Senate, MacGregor served two terms in the Michigan House where he chaired the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Human Services. He also sat on the Appropriations Subcommittees on Community Health, Higher Education, and Military and Veterans Affairs.
Before joining the Legislature, MacGregor served as Cannon Township Supervisor.
Sen. MacGregor is a small business owner and former Township Supervisor.

Sen. MacGregor graduated from the Michigan State University School of Business in 1988.
Married to his college sweetheart for 19 years, Sen. MacGregor met Christine while they were students at Michigan State University. They have three sons. MacGregor and his family are avid sportsmen, enjoying golf, running, fishing, hiking, hunting and watching their boys' many sporting activities.
The family attends Rockford United Methodist Church.
