Rep. Jewell Jones became the youngest Inkster City Council-member in 2015 at the age of 20. His term would end in 2019. In 2014, Jones worked as a field organizer for the David Knezek for State Senate campaign.

A second term was secured by Jones in 2018 when easily defeated Randy W. WALKER in the primary 62.2% to 37.7%.  In the general, he defeated GOP nominee James TOWNSEND 66.8% to 33.1%. 

Jones secured his third term in the House in August 2020 when he ran unopposed in the primary.  He secured 65.2% of the vote in the November general election, again defeating Townsend.  

The 11th district has a partisan Democratic base of 68 percent according to calculations by Target Insyght.

He is attending the University of Michigan-Dearborn and is in the Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).


Rep. Jones is an executive board member of the Inkster Chamber of Commerce, a member of The Inkster Task Force, Inkster Youth Coalition, and the NAACP.
