POLITICAL CAREER
Rep. Joseph Bellino was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2016 after defeating Democrat incumbent Rep. Bill LaVOY 52% to 44%.
A second term was earned by Bellino in 2018, when he defeated Michelle LaVOY 55.6% to 44.3%.
In 2020, Bellino earned his final term in the House by knocking off Christopher SLAT 61.5% to 38.4%.
According to Target Insyght, Michigan's 17th state House district has a Republican voting base of 52.4% - a mark Bellino easily exceeded the last two cycles.
WORK EXPERIENCE
He has owned and operated Broadway Market for many years. Prior to that, he worked in the family beer and wine distributorship, Bellino Quality Beverage, until 1987, when he was given an opportunity to work for The Society of St. Vincent DePaul in Detroit.
In 1993, Bellino joined the service team at Joe Lake Tire and Auto in Monroe. Working closely with the owner, Tim LAKE, allowed him the experience of running a small business. Bellino later purchased Broadway Market from his cousins.

EDUCATION
He is a graduate of Monroe Catholic Central High School and Monroe County Community College.
PERSONAL
Bellino and his wife, Peggy, have three daughters and two grandchildren. He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and its choir.
CIVIC ACTIVITIES
Bellino was a member of the Board of Trustees at Monroe County Community College for 15 years, and served as board chair. In addition, he is a member of the Monroe Exchange Club, Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, NRA, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and Associated Food and Petroleum Dealers, for which he previously served as chair.
