In December 2020, Rep. Hoitenga was one of 15 Michigan lawmakers who signed onto a lawsuit brought by the state of Texas challenging Michigan's election results in hopes of overturning President-elect Joe BIDEN's victory.
Rep. Michele Hoitenga was elected to her first term as state representative in November 2016. Prior to her state election, Rep. Hoitenga served as the mayor of Manton from 2013 to 2016.

She graduated from Buckley High School and earned a degree in human services from Baker College.
She and her husband, Philip, have two sons.
Rep. Hoitenga served as treasurer and president of the Manton Chamber of Commerce and as vice chair of the Wexford County Republican Party. She is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and Director of the Wexford County Women on Target.
