POLITICAL CAREER

Rep. Tate was first elected Nov. 6, 2018 when he secured 73.05 percent of the general election vote against Republican John PALFFY.

Tate won the Democratic August primary that year by beating out six other Democrats when he secured 28.37 percent of the vote.

In 2020 he defeated a single primary opponent taking 68.9% of the vote.  He won the general election with 74% of the vote.

Tate fell short in a 2016 bid for the House.

WORK EXPERIENCE

He helped small businesses grow their capacity as a program manager for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation.

EDUCATION

He earned a scholarship to play football at Michigan State University before joining the National Football League.

After the NFL, Tate served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his honorable discharge, he earned both an M.B.A. and a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Planning from the University of Michigan.
