POLITICAL CAREER
Sen. Outman was first elected to the Senate in 2018 when he defeated Democrat Mark BIGNELL by securing 58.75 percent of the general election vote.
Outman served three terms (2010 - 2016) in the Michigan House representing the 70th House District.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Outman is the owner and operator of Outman Excavating, based in Six Lakes. He also is a substitute teacher in the area when needed. He is a U.S. Army combat veteran with service in Beirut, Lebanon. After his Army service, Outman joined the 1073rd National Guard unit in Greenville.

EDUCATION
Outman is a graduate of Lakeview Community Schools. He earned a bachelor of science and a teaching degree from Grand Valley State University.
PERSONAL
Rick and his wife Kris have three children and two grandchildren. The family attends New Life Methodist Church in Lakeview. He also is an active member of many organizations, including the National Rifle Association, Right to Life of Michigan, Six Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Montcalm County Farm Bureau Outman is a member of the Hough-Pontius #3701 VFW post in Lakeview. He is involved in area schools, assisting with the Lakeview Schools wrestling teams and as tournament director for Lakeview Freestyle Club. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Montcalm County Soil and Conservation District and is a member of the Austin Hunting Club in Atlanta, Mich.
