POLITICAL CAREER
Coleman, who made an unsuccessful bid for mayor of Westland in 2017, was first elected to the House on Nov. 6, 2018.
In the general election he captured 67.25 percent of the vote against Republican Jody RICE-WHITE.
Coleman survived a four-candidate field in the August 2018 primary which he won by securing 39.44 percent of the vote.
WORK EXPERIENCE
After being elected to the Westland City Council for a four-year term in 2013, the Democrat advocated for rebuilding the Westland Police Department and devoting city resources toward improving Westland's neighborhoods, increasing government transparency and providing great customer service to the residents. The Westland Festival Committee and the Westland Veterans Associations are two of the local organizations that he worked closely with during his time on the council to give back to the community.

EDUCATION
He grew up in Redford and moved to the city of Westland at a young age. A graduate of Churchill High School, Coleman earned a bachelor’s degree at Western Michigan University and attended the Lee Honors College.
