In 2020, the 19th House district became a key focal point in the battle for control of the Michigan House.  At one point, Pohutsky and the 19th district ranked as MIRS' 9th most likely to flip.  (See: "Top 10 House Districts Most Likely To Flip," 10/7/2020).

In that race, Pohutsky eeked out a second term defeated the GOP's Martha PTASHNIK 50.2% to 49.78%.  The Michigan Campaign Finance Network reported the 2020 19th House district as the third most expensive House race with combined spending of $1.5 million.
