Pohutsky, Laurie (D)State Representative District 19
Rep. Pohutsky was first elected to the House on Nov. 6, 2018 when she defeated Republican Brian MEAKIN by securing 50.24 percent of the vote.
Pohutsky survived a Democratic primary against Dan CENTERS (54.7 percent to 45.29 percent).
In 2020, the 19th House district became a key focal point in the battle for control of the Michigan House. At one point, Pohutsky and the 19th district ranked as MIRS' 9th most likely to flip. (See: "Top 10 House Districts Most Likely To Flip," 10/7/2020).
In that race, Pohutsky eeked out a second term defeated the GOP's Martha PTASHNIK 50.2% to 49.78%. The Michigan Campaign Finance Network reported the 2020 19th House district as the third most expensive House race with combined spending of $1.5 million. She has worked in the fields of food safety, toxicology and health care.

She lives in Livonia with her husband Mark and their rescue pets.
She is a member of the Livonia Democratic Club and is active in Michigan United.
