POLITICAL CAREER
Rep. VanWoerkom was elected Nov. 6, 2018 when he defeated Democrat Tanya CABALA by securing 55.7 percent of the general election vote.
VanWoerkom came out on top of a two-person August primary field after winning 76.9 percent of the vote.
WORK EXPERIENCE
He was the district director U.S. Rep. Bill HUIZENGA and previously served as the senior policy advisor to U.S. Rep. Pete HOEKSTRA.

EDUCATION
He has a bachelor's degree from Calvin College and a master's degree in political leadership from George Washington University.
PERSONAL
He is married to Wendy and they have three children.
CIVIC ACTIVITIES
He served on the board of the United Way of the Lakeshore and board president for Western Michigan Christian High and Middle School. He is also a member of the Muskegon Rotary Club and Covenant Life Church.
